If you wish to post a bulletin board ad and click on the “Submit” button, you agree to the terms of use listed below.
Please note that the terms of use may be changed and updated by WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, Burgplatz 2, 56179 Vallendar (responsible body: Stiftung Wissenschaftliche Hochschule für Unternehmensführung) as the responsible operator at any time. The version of the terms of use in force at the time the “Submit” button is used always applies. The updates will take effect with the next use of the bulletin board ad market at https://campusboard.whu.edu; a separate notification is not required.
Classifieds posted via the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management do not appear online immediately after submission, but are activated individually. We reserve the right to reject ads according to standardized guidelines, to remove content and to take technical and legal action if there is a possibility that the content of the classified ads contradicts these terms of use or violates the rights of third parties. Pinboard ads without sender details or with incorrect or incomplete sender details will be deleted.
1. free bulletin board ads
Only private classified ads or commercial ads that are specifically for students and their needs can be placed on the bulletin board. All other ads will be deleted.
2. complete description in the advertisement text
Every advertiser is obliged to describe the products, goods or services offered completely and truthfully in the text of the advertisement. A reference to an Internet address is not permitted and is not a substitute for this description.
3. responsibility for the ad content
WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management assumes no responsibility for the accuracy of the content of the bulletin board advertisements or the contractual relationships of third parties resulting from them. The responsibility for the content of the advertisements lies solely with the authors of the advertisements. WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management accepts no liability whatsoever for advertisements published by third parties, in particular in the event of misuse of the classifieds market. The following must be strictly adhered to when placing advertisements
- the provisions of the Criminal Code,
- of the Youth Protection Act,
- data protection law as well as requirements for adult services and other youth protection regulations,
- national and international copyrights, trademark rights, trademark rights, patent rights and naming rights,
- and other industrial property rights and personal rights of third parties.
4. obligation of advertisers
Advertisers at https://campusboard.whu.edu undertake to comply with the following principles: In particular, it is not permitted to place advertisements with the following items, services, offers, requests or events on the bulletin board at https://campusboard.whu.edu:
- Counterfeiting of all kinds, including product piracy
- Unauthorized copies of protected works or objects
- Copies of movies, software or music (pirated copies)
- Tobacco products (e.g. cigarettes, cigars, fine cut)
- Drugs and stimulants within the meaning of the Narcotics Act
- Other mind-altering substances and accessories
- Alcohol
- Medication
- Trade and distribution of books in the form of PDF files
- Pyrotechnics, with the exception of the services of pyrotechnicians
- Radioactive substances, poisons and explosives and other chemicals hazardous to health
- Human organs, blood and other body fluids
- Betting offers of any kind, including lottery and other games of chance
- All personal data and advertisements in which information about named persons is requested
- Offers that violate or threaten the rights or health of third parties
- Objects, items of clothing and ID cards from security-relevant areas
- Weapons within the meaning of the Weapons Act, in particular firearms, cutting and stabbing weapons of any kind and ammunition of any kind
- Ponzi schemes, network marketing, multi-level marketing
- Insufficiently described offers
- Investments and shares
- Credit offers that bypass SCHUFA
- Chargeable telephone numbers and SMS services
- Credit-free cell phones
- Discriminatory offers
- Reports of racist, defamatory or violent content
- Legally prohibited events
- Calls to commit criminal offenses (e.g. insults, acts of violence)
- Unlawful offers or services
- Stolen items
- Pornography
- Prostitution
- Content with amorous or sexual intent
- Pornographic and youth-endangering writings or objects
- Offensive or inappropriate language
- References to commercial Internet offers, e-commerce stores or auctions on the Internet
- Advertisements that serve only to promote other websites
- Catalogs from which buyers can order directly
- Lists, directories or similar containing the addresses of manufacturers, dealers and suppliers
- Foreign language ads
- Live animals of certain protected species and protected plants and their preparations
The following are still not permitted:
- Commercial advertisements
- Chargeable telephone services or links to commercial erotic sites
- Pornographic advertisements or advertisements promoting prostitution
- Personals in the name of third parties
- Offensive images
- Offensive formulations
- Requesting or agreeing to the shipment of live animals
- Trade in protected animal and plant species
- The surrender of dogs under eight weeks of age
- Advertising animals that are located abroad
- Apparently dubious, insufficiently described job offers
- Offers that require advance financial contributions from the applicant
- Incorrectly placed ads
- Working from home
- Vehicles that can only be viewed abroad
- Vehicle parts that are not approved for road traffic
- Vehicle advertising (marketing)
In the event of malfunctions or misuse, we reserve the right to file a complaint with the law enforcement authorities.
5. images in advertisements
Images or photos used in bulletin board ads must be related to the content of the ad. It is prohibited to use images that are protected by copyright if the user has not been granted the rights to use the images. By uploading the images, the advertiser confirms that the uploaded images do not serve any obscene, illegal, offensive, unlawful, fraudulent, abusive or unlawful use and that the advertiser is the author of the image(s). WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management assumes no liability for the content. If these guidelines are violated, WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management reserves the right to delete the advertisement or individual images – even without giving reasons.
6. prohibition of chain letters and pyramid schemes
It is illegal to distribute or advertise spam, chain letters or pyramid schemes.
7. harmful technologies
WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management reserves the right to take appropriate legal action against the perpetrator in the event that viruses or other technologies are sent that could damage us or the interests or property of users.
8. disclaimer
WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management does not guarantee the posting of an advertisement within a certain period of time and WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management does not guarantee the uninterrupted availability of the website. WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management is not liable for the accuracy, quality, completeness, security or legality of the advertisements or user communication. In the event of damage caused by the bulletin board ad market at https://campusboard.whu.edu, WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management is only liable for intent and gross negligence. Liability is limited to damages that were typical and foreseeable at the time the agreement was concluded. The bulletin board advertisements may not contain links to external sites on the Internet. Should an advertisement nevertheless contain a link, WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management assumes no liability for the topicality, correctness, completeness or quality of the information provided there and hereby expressly distances itself from all contents of these pages.
9. data protection
a) Processing of personal data when using the “Pinboard” service
You can place ads on the pinboard ad market at https://campusboard.whu.edu without registering and – apart from your name, e-mail address and possibly your telephone number – without having to provide any further personal data. Neither your name nor your e-mail address will be published unless you do so voluntarily. Voluntary publication of data by yourself remains unaffected. The bulletin board ad market is publicly accessible. Please be aware that other websites, including search engines and other users of the Internet, may process data from the advertisement text you publish electronically – contrary to these terms of use – although the content of the pinboard is excluded from collection by search engines.
In principle, we do not process and/or use any of your personal data when you use our online service. There is no use of cookies or social media offers when using the service.
We only collect and store the following data, which is processed exclusively in fulfillment of the user contract for the services of the pinboard (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR):
- E-mail address (personal)
- Statistics on page views, data traffic
- Technical IP addresses of the user and standard internet protocol data
When you visit our website, we also store the domain name or IP address of the requesting computer, the client’s file request (file name and URL), the HTTP response code, the website from which you visit us and the date and duration of your visit for a limited period of time. The data is stored exclusively for the purpose of identifying malfunctions or misuse of our online services and our telecommunications services/systems, insofar as it is necessary to establish further connections and/or for billing purposes. Your usage data will not be analyzed to create personal usage profiles.
When you contact us by e-mail, the personal data you provide (your e-mail address, your first and last name and, if applicable, your telephone number) will be stored by us in order to answer your questions and thus fulfill obligations arising from the user contract. We delete the data arising in this context after storage is no longer required, or restrict processing if there are statutory retention obligations.
The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lt. b GDPR.
Your usage data will not be used for any other purpose or passed on to third parties.
b) Disclosure of personal data to third parties
WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management does not pass on personal data to third parties unless this is necessary to fulfill mandatory legal obligations.
c) Duration of the processing of personal data
The maximum duration of storage depends on the purpose of the data processing. The duration of storage depends in particular on the period for which processing is necessary to fulfill the purpose or to comply with legal obligations. When using the pinboard, this is generally the duration required to fulfill the user contract and the rights and obligations arising from it. The statutory retention obligations, in particular pursuant to Section 257 HGB and Section 147 AO (6 or 10 years), remain unaffected.
d) Place of data processing
The processing of your personal data by us takes place in Germany or in member states of the European Union. Your data will not be transferred to a third country when you use the pinboard.
e) Technical measures for the protection of personal data
We take all necessary technical and organizational measures, taking into account the requirements of Art. 24, 25 and 32 GDPR, to protect your personal data from loss, destruction, access, modification or dissemination by unauthorized persons and misuse.
For example, we comply with the legal requirements for the pseudonymization and encryption of personal data, for the confidentiality, integrity, availability and resilience of systems and services in connection with processing, for the availability of personal data and the ability to restore it quickly in the event of a physical or technical incident, and for the establishment of procedures to regularly review, assess and evaluate the effectiveness of technical and organizational measures to ensure the security of processing.
e) Right of the data subject
You have a right to free information about your personal data and, if the legal requirements are met, a right to rectification, blocking and erasure of your data, to restriction of processing, to data portability and a right to object.
Insofar as we base the processing of your personal data on the balancing of interests, you can object to the processing.
You also have the option of lodging a complaint with a competent supervisory authority (e.g. State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Rhineland-Palatinate, Prof. Dr. Kugelmann, Hintere Bleiche 34, 55116 Mainz).
